lovely weekend riding

linda and i spent the weekend in Paso Robles for the Great Western Bike Rally. We brought all of our camping gear (what little we own) packed it all in (a quilt for beneath our bodies and pillows for our heads) took the exit to the fairgrounds and pulled right into a Motel 6. We're no campers. Our good friend Dick has done the GWBR for years and brings all his camping gear (a tent for us that he has ready when we arrive) cooking equipment and FOOD (we contribute some wine, etc.). But this year his mom died so he couldn't make it. We missed him and not just because he cooks for us but because he is always in a good mood. We did the 100 mile ride on Saturday. Lots of gorgeous riding except for the brief slog along Hwy 101.

What a lovely weekend it was despite the 8 miles on the 101 freeway. I'm glad we survived to tell the tale.

Not only were the roads smooth and the countryside beautiful, but the company was superb. Let's do it again next year.

a bunch of us went last year and it was silly fun with a night of uber-goofin' games n' drinks n' giggles.

Yes! and maybe we'll even pitch a tent.
