linda called me at work yesterday, just as i was heading out for the day. "the electricity is out," she said. "nothing's coming on."
i had planned to pick up stuff to make spaghetti. maybe a little salad fixings, slice some bread. i can't recall when we last ate at home. sometime last year, i think.
"darn", i said, we'll have to eat out.
so we were forced by pg&e to go out for tapas and a mojito at cesars on piedmont. it's become our restaurant of choice, lately. they have a great grilled chicken dish. yummy. so we ordered another mojito and cursed pg&e. damn you pg&e for making us drink mojitos and eat grilled chicken with roasted onions, and a side-dish of cured ham and baked potatoes. may you rot -- pass the salt please -- in hell pg&e.
so the electricity is back on and tomorrow is a new day. maybe i'll make my hardy lentil soup. it's not bad. kind of tasty, really. and good for you. one bowl stays with you for like a week. i could make that.
or i could just flip the main switch.

soooo...i guess i am not the only one who hates to cook, and kitchen duty in general.....
That Cesar is about four blocks from our place...I love their moscato sangria...
You should try La Taza de Cafe on Grand, next to the Safeway. It's Cuban tapas, equally yummy & a little less expensive. CHAMPAGNE mojitos...
i've been wanting to try that Cesar place. it always looks so crowded.
we eat at that japanese place a lot down by the yoga studio on piedmont.
i like cato's too. but lately thai food is my fav. we frequent cha ahm in north berkeley or this other thai place in montclair that's pretty good.
we eat out a lot too.
when you flip that switch...
dona tomas on telegraph has the best margaritas, among other things.
and we've tried sangria all over and like it best at a-cote on college.
cidster: i like cooking but who has time.
elfy: ooh will try.
lauren: cesars has never been too busy. the bartender from cato's was seated next to us...small dining world
alicat: love dona tomas and their margies and warm dipping sauce with the chips.
oy, lentil soup is gonna be difficult
Stop it. The only thing within 15 minutes of us ia a pizza joint and a mexican restaurant.
And 25 minutes drive will get you to Watsonville. Go ahead, do a yelp search on good restaurants in watsonville.
grumble grumble....with your tapas and mojitos and yoga studio sushi bars....
was going to play the violin for VB till
i found this list of fine dining establishments in Watsonville.
trust me ... it's a good thing we live half-an-hour out in the boonies ... or, we'd be mojito-ing it up every other nite.
we have a russian/vegan restuarant in Watsonville?
is borscht vegan?
ippoc appreciates this "edited" version of our lovely evening....
you never took us to the russian vegan restaurant!
